Buying Hits To Your Site Isn't Going to Get You Sales...or is it?
For some of you it won't. For the others - it will.
Many people believe that buying hits to their site will
immediately generate sales. Hmmm, how about that? That's
optimism that is (1) to be commended or (2) to be laughed at.
You can decide here in a minute.
Whether you are new to the Internet or been plugging away
at online marketing for years - you already know that what
you are pushing needs hits.
Without hits your site won't be seen - right? I'm not telling
you anything new.
You can't just have a site and expect it to magically do
all the work for you. You have to put time and money into
that site to get it seen. Sorry folks. Despite some programs
telling you no work is ever needed to promote their system,
simple common sense tells you otherwise.
I have a client that is buying hits and signups from me -
despite the fact that his program states "Promotion Is
Never Required!" Well, he's not stupid! He knows he has got
to get out there and promote his member site to get results.
Now pay attention - it's NOT his site. He doesn't own it - he's
only an affiliate. So why buy hits? Is he wasting his money and
time? I'll tell you below.
If you were to visit Google right now and type in the keywords
"buy website hits" - you're going to get 1.8 million sites to
choose from.
Now type in "website traffic" - over 4.6 million sites are
now available for you to peruse at your leisure. How many pots
of coffee will that call for?
I think the above tells you that getting hits to your site is
just a wee bit popular.
But if you think that buying hits is going to produce immediate
sales... depending on the knowledge you have to use those hits,
think again. By the way, sales here can be defined as "results"
if you aren't selling something. Actually, we are all selling
something when we advertise a website. Sometimes it's just an
idea we're selling. Back to the topic.
Common knowledge - you need it to succeed.
A person needs to see your site a minimum of 10 times before
they will even act on it. I'm only referring to those sites
that are offering something free.
How many times do you think it will take for someone to act
on a site that isn't offering anything free? A lot! I didn't
have to answer that for you now did I?
Don't go out there foolishly buying hits to your site without
first knowing the following "tips".
The DO NOTS when buying hits.
1. Don't buy 500,000 hits to your site if you don't even own
the site. Why? Because only 500,000 people will see your site
once (remember the 10x's rule). Who REALLY benefits from you
buying 500,000 hits? Well - think about it. It's not you! I'll
tell you below who actually benefits.
2. Don't EVER buy hits to a site that doesn't even tell the
lookeelu (that's the person viewing your site) what the site
is about or offering in the top paragraph.
You've seen those sites that don't define themselves in the
top paragraph. Do you spend the time to read further down to
see what it's about? I know I don't. I'm too busy.
If you aren't going to tell me what you are about at the very
top of the site, I'm moving on - that is unless I've looked
for your site. I have a strong feeling I am not alone in this.
3. Don't EVER assume that purchasing a small package of hits,
like under 5,000, is going to produce sales. Unless your top
paragraph is telling people you are giving them $50 free
just to look - forget about it! Remember, 5,000 people are
viewing your site only once.
The DOs when buying hits - if you don't own the site.
1. Purchase small packages many times - your chances of
repeat lookeelus is great. 10x's rule.
2. Know your affiliate page is being shown as a popup - thus
the importance of making sure that site is defined either in
the first paragraph or even the graphics at the top.
3. If you have your own domain and it's hosted on a server,
upload that affiliate site to your domain and THEN buy hits.
If you do that - you'll want to pay attention to the below.
The DOs when buying hits - if you OWN the site.
1. BUY A LOT many times.
Above I asked you who really benefited from buying 500,000
hits to an affiliate site - a site that is not yours, meaning
you are only a member of that program.
Well, an affiliate buying 500,000 hits to his member site
gets 500,000 people viewing it once. BUT, the owner of that
affiliate program just had a huge surge of hits that increased
his listing in the search engines. This only one of many tools
that will increase a search engine ranking.
So, the Site Owner is the one that benefits from a purchase of
500,000 hits. - not the affiliate.
Ok, the affiliate does benefit. But the maximum benefit goes
to the site owner.
Here's proof. Google the keywords "free ezine advertising".
Scroll down the page - wait, you won't even have to do that.
One of my sites is listed there - Subscribeme.net. It's
number five at the time I'm writing this article. That site
averages 400,000 hits a month. I don't even advertise it - anymore.
When Subscribeme.net. launched June 6, 2003 - you bet I was
advertising it. My first expense was buying massive hits.
But I didn't buy hits thinking smart. I bought hits because
I thought it would immediately produce free subscribers for
myself and my publishers. Hey, it's a free service so why
wouldn't it produce results right away? Well, just because
you have something free doesn't mean everyone wants it.
It took me about three weeks to learn something valuable.
Buying large quantities of hits to my site only increased
my ranking in the search engines. Well, it didn't only do that.
It branded me - it got my name out there. And it was the start
of something pretty successful. I bought many more large packages
of hits. Then I just decided I would offer my own hits packages
to sell to others and save myself some money!
So, buying large quantities didn't produce any sales, in this
case "results" - at least not immediately. But long-term - it exploded!
Now, I'm not telling you that the ONLY thing I did was buy
hits. I worked my tail off for months. September 2003 I had a little
over 100,000 hits - most I generated from hits I bought. But in April
of 2004 I had almost 600,000 hits - and I did absolutely nothing in
April to advertise Subscribeme.net.
Link exchanges (I'm grateful to my publishers at Subscribeme.net.),
smart pages, search engine submissions and MassiveHits.us - all
contributions to why I'm #5 in Google. Some of my other
businesses - MassiveHits.us - have been as high as #2 on Google.
So will buying hits to your affiliate program produce results
for you? If you buy them using your smarts they will.
Will buying hits to a site you own produce results? Better
believe it will.
You just cannot expect immediate results. That's when our own
frustrations come in to play. You need to...
Work hard, work long, and always work smart - it will pay off.
By the way - enjoy the ride as you go!
